Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lady in Red is a very beautiful and flashy female. Somewhat vain, Lady in Red is a  flirty female passionate about love and life. With a peculiar fondness for strawberries and cherries more then meat, Lady in Red becomes grounded and serious only in times of need. A vicious warrior disguised as a flimsy and girlish female afraid of insects, Lady in Red is the clan's berserk er in times of war and desperation. The only thing that really makes her different from other's in her clan, is her marked hatred of hatchlings. Strange as it sounds, Lady in Red despises the responsibility of hatchlings, and wants nothing to do with them: Preferring instead to have short love affairs with various males instead of choosing one mate.
