This hatchling’s behavior is not cute at all; it keeps trying to kick and bite you.

And look! It has grown wings, and flickers of flame have appeared along its body. Maybe something is happening?

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wonderbolt is the best junior flier among all the hatchlings—she even beats Skywings and Blusangs on a regular basis. Granted most of the contests she makes up involve some kinds of trick involving actual legs, but it's still an impressive accomplishment.

This hatchling actually works quite well with others considering her breed because she manages to channel her natural aggression into competitiveness. She might not be the most easy one to be around but she hasn't kicked another hatchling's flank in either.
