Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

The story of Monterey Jack is legend in his parts.  See, Jack, unlike most critters that make their home in a desert habitat, is made of cheese.  But don't let that fool anyone none- Jack is one tough piece of cheddar.  Legend has it that when he was just an egg, he was carried off and hatched among the meanest tribe of hellions in the territory- the Dontyoumesswithusyoumangyvarmintpooh Spitfires.  Some say it was the hot desert days that made him hard, some say it was his dry outlook on life.  Whatever it was, he fit in just fine with those ol' Spits, all but the breathing blue flames and glass-making.  But Jack never minded, he learned the things he really needed to survive in a cold, cruel world- fighting and blending in.  His only enemy was a tough hombre by the name of Raton, a one-eyed kangaroo rat without a tail and buck teeth.  How Jack took down Raton and gained his reputation as the rootinest, tootinest desperado around is where his story really gets a-goin'...
