Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It keeps trying to catch fish in a nearby pond.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mowe, like most hatchlings her age, is highly curious. She is especially fascinated by humans, but more so by the loose, colored skins that they can put on and shed at will. She's noticed the purpose of different types of skin, and how female humans wear different skins than the male humans. Her favorites are worn by humans in the large stone fortresses. The females' skins are long and flowing, and even have gems or other materials on them that glitter and shine in the light. After seeing them, Mowe was mesmerized, and after dark decided to sneak into the human's rooms and gather as many skins and trinkets as she could carry. She keeps them well hidden in the back of her den, protecting them from the elements and the eyes of other dragons who wouldn't understand. Every now and again she attempts to try them on, but soon stops in fear of ripping the beautiful materials. One day she hopes to find a beautiful skin made just for her, and the bravery to reveal her secret to the clan.
