Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Darien is a rather quirky dragon, being almost overly friendly towards approaching humans (and even his other dragonkind) and not seeming to be very well aware of his own size. He is quick to trust, and appears to enjoy being petted. His chipper, lyrical voice is perfect for singing complex and soothing melodies that have inspired many a children's lullaby, though many of his songs go unrecorded as his true masterpieces are often improvised or when he is alone in his cave. Darien seems to have a bit of a problem with drooling, though the thick gobs of dragon spit that coat his treasure serve as a deterrent against thieves rather well. It is difficult to say whether or not this is intentional.
