And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Christmas Brat is really a very sweet little dragon. He got his name because he hatched just after Christmas, and because he can be very energetic and immature, to the annoyance of the older dragons. Due to his owner experimenting with magic, CB has remained a hatching, and seems destined to never grow up. His wings aren't mature enough to carry his weight, and he can fly only a few feet above the ground for short bouts of time. He enjoys playing with the other hatchlings, but is sad when they grow up. He likes befriending the mint dragons because they remain close to his size even in maturity, and because they tend to be patient with him.
