Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Silima Laurea is very energetic. Her best friend in the cave is Vilyasicil. She is always wishing that they could breed, but he is not a drake, whereas she is. Vilyasicil is always trying to convince Silima Laurea that someday s nice drake will come along and steal her heart, but Silima Laurea is certain that Vilyasicil will always be her best friend, and that she will never love any other Dragon, drake or not, as much as she loves Vilyasicil. The reason they are such good friends is because, when the good enchantress was walking along on a mountain with Vilyasicil (who was, at that time, a hacthling), Vilyasicil found Silima Laurea (who was then an egg), and they grew up together.
