Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kuromu is a dragon sorceress who is incredibly adept at using magical spells and enchantments. She was abandoned by her mother before she even hatched, which influenced her fairly solitary and anti-social behavior from a very young age. A traveling human mage once stumbled upon her hideaway and managed to befriend her, teaching her the art of magic in exchange for the shelter of her cave. Said mage stayed in her company for many a moon, until eventually he grew old and sick beyond the point that his spells could heal. He knew that by staying in Kuromu's care he would not get the medical attention he needed, so he left one night as the mighty drake was sleeping and never returned. Kuromu awakened the next day, enraged that her companion had abandoned her just as her mother did and vowed to forever terrorize the humans that lived down below in the mountainside. The combination of her ferocity, superb sorcery skills, and unmatched strength makes her quite a force to be reckoned with.
