Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Princess of Shadows used to be known as Belladonna before her magic grew stronger and she was feared everywhere. Belladonna was the runt of the clutch; the weakest of the weak. Her magic could barely produce a spark while her siblings were already moving on to bonfires. One day, her brother began picking on her and a wave of emotion overtook her. A few minutes after the wave of fire she sent had receded, Belladonna saw her brother's charred body lying lifeless at her feet. Knowing her parents would disown her, Belladonna fled into the night and was never heard from again. A few years later, a powerful new black dragon rose to power. She became the leader of a powerful dragon clan. She was known as the Princess of Shadows and she inspired fear everywhere she went. Little is known about her origins, but all the rumors agree on one thing—once upon a time, The Princess of Shadows used to be a little dragon named Belladonna.
