Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Outgoing and brave, Akira (whose name means Bright in another language) is the leader of the Autism Support Ouendan (often called ASR Ouendan, for short). It is not fairly clear why she had chosen the word "Autism" to be part of the clan's name, but it is possible that she may have overheard KimokoTheDragon using the word to describe Changelings. How she came to be close to the other encouraging clans is something that even Kimoko herself doesn't know. They seem to tolerate her since the day that she was taken in due to severe injuries that she had suffered; they actually were concerned about her. Whether this odd friendship will continue is something that time can only tell.
