And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Jaspec is, unfortunately, a bully.  He's always trying to pick on quieter Hyskeg—the adults stop him when they notice, of course, but they can't always be watching.  The only dragon who can intimidate him is Eurikk, who luckily enough tends to be Hyskeg's almost constant companion.  Much of Jaspec's bullying was motivated by loneliness—Haralk had Telsiu and Hyskeg often took refuge with Tesnit, leaving Jaspec by himself—and he's become a little less aggressive since Ghyhenvra has taken an interest in him.
