Shallow Water Dragons are found in tropical regions where the water is warm. They use their magic to hunt, using bubbles to capture small fish and animals. Their large, webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and they are able to move at very high speeds. Due to their bright color, these dragons are easily spotted in the lagoons where they live.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aolani Gazer is a young Shallow Water dragon. Her father, Water Gazer, is a Water Dragon, and her mother, Summer Waters, is a Magi Dragon. Because of this, she is an excellent swimmer, and can cast a few spells, such as levitating objects and teleporting things back to her clan's cave. She lives in the lake in the cave with her parents and her best friend, Aquari Splash the Tsunami Dragon. She is cheerful, bubbly, and optimistic. She loves cheering up sad dragons, similar to her friend, Pinkie Glitterspark, and is constantly trying to communicate with Graves, a mute Nocturne who never talks to anyone except Ajax the Vampire. She really wants to be on the Protectors Guild of her clan, but the only defense mechanism she has is splashing the enemy. Nothing happens when she does this. Her parents don't like her mate, Spiritsong Snowflake.
