Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

bawkv is a silver-laced sebright cockerel and nothing anyone may say to him will convince him otherwise. He scratches, he pecks, he crows at the crack of dawn, and he spends a lot of time with his magic mirror tuned to scry on the Channel X News hens as they stick their beaks into places they don't belong and cluck about what they see. He is one of the first dragons to discover that the hens actually have the magical equipment to make themselves easy to scry (previously, the chickens were simply dismissed as chickens). He secretly has a crush on Captain Queenie. bawk works as a professional alarm clock, going around to people who need to wake up at specific times and screaming at them until they pry themselves out of bed, off their hoard, or wherever they chose to sleep. Some, especially neighbours of certain regular clients, consider him a nuisance, but he doesn't care about that. He's more concerned about getting enough meal worms to feed a (large and draconic) chicken like himself.
