Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Sweetli was named after the adult purple dragon in the scroll, but is NOT at all like her namesake. Sweetli is quite the "princess" and even as a perpetual hatchling, she spends more time grooming and posing than anything else. Her keeper had concerns that as a mature dragon she would cause dissension among the other female dragons due to her dominant nature. Therefore, she was charmed to remain a hatchling--and more controllable.
