And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Jack, also known as Jackie Boy and Jackie Junior, is a fearful dragon. Instead of living in a pumpkin, which is both edible and squishable, he lives in a stone crevice—much less comfortable, but safer. Because of his small size and frail body, he rarely plays with other hatchlings, afraid of being injured. The majority of his social interaction consists of running away from Moschata, who always wants him to come out and play. Little Jack has become rather adept at "hide and seek" as a result.
