Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Yahaira is a calm and very protective dragon, because she unlike most of her kind was not raised by Hellfire parents, instead she was raised by the clan. However, one night a day after Yahaira had matured she decided to go on a little hunt by herself to prove herself. It is said this is a custom among the Hellfire Wyvern's breed. While she was out dark clouds had started to gather and it became pitch dark very fast. She was successful, however, on the hunt and headed back to the clan to show everyone. Along the way though, since she couldn't see properly or fly in the dark, she had gotten lost and bumped into an egg. She looked around to see if another dragon was there but there were none, so she took the egg back to the clan to help raise it. Ever since then she had become good friends with the dragon from the egg who is now called Nyx and help the clan together.
