Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Beelzebul is an unfortunate dragon. She was abandoned nearly hatched, but with poor health. Her triumph over soft shell was a great feat in of itself, but she again slipped into sickness due to an unnamed knave who constantly returned to upset her-- possibly her former owner. This had a severely negative impact on her personality, with most of her childhood wasted in illness.

As a last resort, she was frozen to avoid the deadly malady, and lives stunted today. Perhaps it's for the best. Although ill, her underlying nature seems quite sinister, often lashing out at even those who are clearly stronger. No one wants to consider how dangerous she would be if she was entirely healthy, but pity keeps her in the clan.
