Canopy Dragons love to soar above the tropical jungles and other densely forested areas. Their billowing, layered wings create generous lift that allows them to ascend effortlessly over the warm jungle. While their unique wings do not make them the fastest flyers, they are champion gliders. To further this end, dexterity, maneuverability, and grace are all judged by the females when selecting their mates from the males that can accurately complete the exhausting and elaborate courtship dance between the close growing branches of the upper canopy.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Emeraline came from the world-famous Thuwed Clan. She is a generally happy-go-lucky little dragon, always up for a game, pestering the more serious Herachus members and altogether acting more childish than her age should suggest.

She is a scout, with a main goal of searching for food and other supplies. Her erratic nature constantly leads to her straying off her goal, and as such she is often referred to as 'scatter-brained' by her fellow scouts. Once she got herself thoroughly lost and it was up to the Herachus' lead scout Cadifor to find her. The search lasted for five hours, and it was nearly midnight when Emeraline was finally found, about fifty-two kilometers from home.

Emeraline has a small house in the stump of a dead tree near the Herachus base. She and her mate Thallus live in it, with barely enough room for the two. Emeraline takes a lot of care in 'furnishing' the hollow, with her favourite piece being a bunch of feathers hanging from the ceiling.
