Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Z'Quen is the fastest flying dragon in Ceri's cave, and as such often enjoys letting Ceri ride him and gains joy from hearing her yells and squeals of delight as he takes death defying plunges and turns. Even though he is not one of her Royalty dragons, he is often favored by being at important events, especially when those event include racing or acrobatics. He and Ceri often wow crowds when they fly as the sun glints of his scales, and she falls from his back only to be caught gently and thrown back up into the air, somersaulting gracefully, landing back on his back. This is made especially spectacular because of the spikes on shoulders and heads, making their games extremely dangerous but more fun because of it.
