Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zoumo (or Zoumo the Magnificent, as he prefers to be known) found a warrior's lifestyle to be just too dull, so he started a one-dragon traveling magic show. He had a natural talent for bombast and hyperbole and for decades had no trouble attracting audiences wherever he went. Then, the Dragonfire Circus was formed, and attendance plummeted. Cirq offered him a place in the show, but Zoumo viewed that as selling out. Instead, he began proclaiming his show's superiority to a mere circus. After all, it took an entire team of dragons to get the same impact he had on his own. Zoumo's strategy worked well enough, and he now performs to smaller, loyal audiences.
