Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves watching the reflection of stars in the water.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Grim always has nightmares when he sleeps. Always. No matter how short the wee nap, or how deep the long sleep, Grim always wakes howling about the horrors he's seen in his dreams. Nothing helps. Not chamomile tea, not meditation (he fell asleep—his howls were so loud, his instructor refused to see him again), not even reciting: "I will not dream of bunnies." Nothing. Poor Grim. Whenever he comes across a sleeping dragon, he watches enviously wishing it were him.
