Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Born of the clan, Crazed stumbled off into the valley when he was a newborn hatchling fresh out of the eggshell, and quickly became hopelessly lost. The clan set out to look for the lost hatchling immediately. But fortune frowned upon him that day, as he was found and subsequently raised by something much darker—a vampire dragon, known as Prowls. It's unknown why she felt attached enough to him as not to kill him, but nonetheless, she twisted him, shaping the innocent hatchling into a mad, bloodthirsty predator over time. He forgot about the past life he'd lived for a few short days, and the dragons that were still grieving over his assumed death. At last, Prowls abandoned him and left him on his own. The clan's dragons found him some years later, and have constantly tried to undo the scars left on his psyche, but to no avail—he remains as dangerous and crazed as ever.
