Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

ZEgrl is a dragon forever frozen before it was gendered because it was feared that it would gender incorrectly. The oldest and wisest dragon of them all proclaimed the egg to be "ZE Girl". The girl to what, no one, not even the oldest knew. The other dragons froze the hatchling out of fear as they didn't want the grandmeister (the oldest and wisest dragon) to be shown to be wrong especially as it is rumored that a male pink influenced it, although this was long since proven false. As such, to be forever young, ZEgrl is friendly, playful and loving, but also filled with longing to gain the fins of her kind, and to have mate and is often sad when her friends all grow up and has to make new ones as the old grow too old for her antics. Despite this, however, they still encourage 'her' mind to grow older with them, and so even though she doesn't spend much time with them, she is just as old and wise as they are despite 'her' physical age.
