Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

One day, an egg was discovered by the clan, a strange egg that was cold to the touch and smelled foul. Thought to be dead, the egg was kept away from the others, but one day it cracked and from it came Lamia. Ever since she had hatched, Lamia knew she was different; the other dragons, both hatchlings and adults, were nervous of her. She remained dormant during the day and active at night and her diet was a strange thirst for blood. Pacis worked with the other hatchlings to accept Lamia as a playmate while Occultus taught Lamia to hunt so she would never be tempted to prey on her friends. As an adult, Lamia still scares most of the clan, but she laughs about it now, enjoying the attention. She still remains very active at night and is usually found in the back of the cavern seeking solitude away from the noise of the clan. She is now the leader of the clan's Vampires, with her "mate" Cruor at her side. The only other dragon that she will submit to is Pacis.
