Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ailenn the daydream dragon floats atop her cloud, the perfect picture of beauty and innocence. However, what one does not realize is the hidden power in the form of a bulb of glowing light inside of her. She can use this power to plant wonderful fantasies into a human's head, for good, and she can also use it for evil. Wandering thoughts mean she can take complete control, and one stumbles around for a few days, in a trance-like existence, living in a dream world she has created for humans in her control. Ailenn is a fearful kind of dragon, suspicious, blameful, and overall shy, hiding in demure caves in which human or other dragon encounters rarely occur. She has few acquaintances that only became close to her by constantly bothering her.
