Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kajeth was the first gold to reach Brackenridge Aerie.  It had been quite a day -- a violent storm had broken over the mountain range, and Maolan was just about to give up his patrol when he'd spotted the oversized, mud-streaked egg wedged between two rocks.  He'd flown back to the cave as quickly as he could, wings straining against the force of the storm, egg clutched carefully in his talons.

Nobody was entirely sure what kind of egg he'd brought back until the storm cleared out.  The setting sun struck the metallic shell between the clods of dirt and grime, and the Aerie went into a tizzy.  The dragons spent the rest of the evening cleaning the egg off (Mercury Rising all the while insisting that it wasn't as pretty as he).

Kajeth hatched several days later, with no knowledge of the ordeal that had brought her to the Brackenridge Aerie.

A tad bullheaded, a tad short-tempered, but with a heart as gold as her scales, Kajeth is a valued member of the Aerie.
