Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ridiculous Princess Frillopator is conflicted. She is alternately infuriated and pleased with her lot in life.

The clan had eagerly awaited the mating of Ridiculous Caesarion Frillopator and his PrincessConsort. The Frill clan was the first in all of Ahavah to attempt an even gen lineage. Caesarion and his chosen mate were to produce an even fourth gen, the first ever bred in the land. When the Black Queen heard of this, she was jealous and angry, for her PB clan was oldest and best on the scroll. She cast a spell on their wedding night, cursing the Frill clan to breed nevermore.

PrincessConsort was heartbroken. Though she loved her new mate, she had wanted a child more than anything. Queen Cleo cast a spell upon the last frill that would keep her a child forever and gave her to the heir and his mate. The whole clan dotes upon their adopted daughter, most beloved and last of the frills, but the young princess grieves that she can never grow up, mate, and have a frill of her own.
