White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Having two footloose, carefree parents has proven to Yarmerna the advantages of weyr life—dependable shelter, reliable food, and the chance to make friends that she won't have to leave behind the next day.  Unlike Serendis, Yarmerna is unwilling to trust to luck to solve every problem and to provide what is needed.  While still traveling with her parents, she always worried that every bad storm would leave one or all of them injured and that every winter would leave them all dead from starvation.  Now that Yarmerna has found Flowernest Weyr, she never plans to leave.  She's even reluctant to stray beyond the bounds of the weyr, and sends apprentices to gather healing herbs.  While a good healer, Yarmerna tends to be overprotective of her patients, insisting that they stay confined to their caves long past the point when any other white dragons would have pronounced them fully cured.
