Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dutchkiller, called Dutch, is named after a friend of Vampyre's, who he has been told lives in a land far beyond where dragons can fly. The sound of mountainous green lands and the varied prey that can be found is appealing to him. Dutch is very protective of his clan, thus he is a fierce warrior. However, unlike others of his breed in his clan, he is willing to solve differences through peace talks. His stance on peace talks is that if they work then he has done his duty as none of his clan has come to harm. If the talks fail he is there to protect the vulnerable clan delegates.
