Avatars of Destruction possess a volatile disposition. They thrive on chaos and decay, and their horns and plated scales are as hard as forged metal. Because of their affinity with darkness and the destructive forces of nature, it was once thought that these dragons were omens of ill fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jashypoo was traveling in a harsh winter and accidentally lost an egg. When the Avatar eventually hatched it saw a great red eye which scared it back into its egg. A few hours later it got out of its egg but was fearful the eye would come back. As it hadn't yet learned how to properly hunt, it was too weak when the eye appeared again. It introduced itself as Crayak and eventually become its protector. When the Avatar grew into adolescent it turned out to be a female and named itself Rachel Crayak. Jashypoo eventually returned to Rachel and asked her to lead a clan called Hounds of the Wastelands which was to protect all of her dragons. Rachel chose Queen Xenomorph, one of her only friends, as second in command. She chose Not Your Shield, Queen's companion, as the messenger.
