Sweetlings are a small, flightless breed of dragon. They are omnivores who favor sweet fruits and honey, and have been known to go to great lengths to obtain their favorite treats. Their long, prehensile tails allow them to grab onto branches and give them superior balance. Sweetlings are expressive dragons and have a large array of calls to communicate with others. They become very vocal during breeding season and sing long, beautiful melodies to attract a mate. Inquisitive in nature, Sweetlings are known to investigate anything that piques their interest, and are quick to flee if the object of their curiosity strikes back.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. This fellow was pilfered as an egg, tossed from place to place until finally settling in a clutch of pink dragon eggs. The parents of these eggs failed to notice the egg was different, so when he hatched with the others, he was born as one of them. At first, he looked like his siblings- small, pink and wingless. As he grew, however, differences became apparent. He was skinny and awkward, unlike his graceful brothers and sisters. When their wings grew in, he looked forward to getting his too, only to find himself growing useless feathers instead. His siblings made fun of him, calling him an ugly lizard. He was eventually driven away from his adopted family, sad and alone. He believed he was indeed just a lizard, until stumbling across some dragons he'd not seen before. They were handsome creatures, trilling beautiful melodies. He found out that he, in fact, was one of these-a Sweetling, a Valentine dragon. Since then, he has been much happier, now proud of his feathered, flightless form.
