Ridgewing Dragons live just below the snow level on the upper slopes of mountains. They are a friendly, playful breed and enjoy dancing in wind currents near their homes or plummeting down into valleys from great heights. Their wings, by far their most striking feature, grow in fin-like ridges along their backs. While their bodies lack markings to blend better with their surroundings, a ridgewing’s wings have bright markings in the colors of the flowers that grow in their mountain habitat. Occasionally different-colored individuals can be found, but they are rare because their striking coloring offers little protection.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Starlutz is the King of the Ridgewing Dragon Clan, and a member of the Night Watch Legion. For a Clan King, he is unusually relaxed and easygoing- he pawns off many of the more unpleasant duties of leadership to his Deputy. As you can imagine, his deputy is not happy with this at all. However, Starlutz's approachable, outgoing nature makes him a popular King in his own right. There is little risk of a coup d'tat under his leadership, as he generally allows his Clan to make decisions communally instead of deciding what is best on his own. However, this does mean that the Ridgewing Clan often takes a very long time to come to an agreement on any major decision. They have earned a reputation for being indecisive among the other Clans thanks to this. Starlutz enjoys his duties in the Night Watch Legion more than his duties as a King- he loves soaring above the Skadrian Islands at night, making sure that the islands remain at peace.
