Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.
FireChord is an odd Hellfire Wyvern Dragon. He was hand-raised by his owner, because he was found orphaned as a newly, hatched little hatchling. This has given him a more pleasant disposition compared to the rest of his species. Though FireChord is madly in love with his mate MusicalMagi, they fight constantly. FireChord is able to mentally sing very, very well. But he has a temper, though it is nothing compared to the rest of his breed, but he and his mate argue a lot. And they argue about everything. Other dragons are almost embarrassed to be around the couple when they are fighting. It never comes to blows, but the two come very close to it. FireChord can also be tender; he often brings his mate flowers and little furry treats. So it is a rocky relationship, but also one that will last.
