Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Silver Coin is a shy hatchling who prefers to keep to itself, but it always enjoys the company of the adult Silver dragons. It is very sensitive, both physically and emotionally, though the adult Silvers usually know how to calm the little one if it gets upset. Coin prefers to hoard strictly coins rather than coins and gemstones. Some dragons have found this to be very odd and a few of the meaner ones tend to bully Coin for this.
