Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mother DeGroot spends most of her time practicing magic far away from other living beings. This is because, while she holds power over magic that far surpasses her peers, she seems to have difficulty controlling it. This has been a constant problem from birth. While she is perfectly capable of increasing the potency of her magic through constant practice, she is unable to direct it with any accuracy or efficiency. This often leads to her, for example, to creating massive earthquakes and calling in meteor showers in every direction when the spell she attempted to cast was a simple fireball. All of her training, despite her best and increasingly desperate measures, simply leads to her wanton magic's growing more powerful and less accurate. By reason of honor alone, she has sworn to give up life before giving up magic, and she continues in vain attempting to gain control.
