Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to sleep during the day and glow when it wakes up at night.
And look! It’s grown its wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. Their scales don’t grow in until right before they mature, and they have almost no strength. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are usually left alone by their mother and begin to hunt and survive on their own.
This hatchling loves to relax in the shimmering, faint glow of the moon. Her light-colored scales reflect the visible moonlight very well while she absorbs the non-visible lunar rays. She turns over often to get moonlight on all parts of her body. Occasionally passersby see her turning with her back haunches lit up in the moonlight and think she mooned them.
