It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Taleena is very distant from him which is quite unusual as he was one of the four first dragons she got when she came to the Cave. She decided to steal his egg because it was unusual and the color purple reminded her of a certain spunky purple young dragon.

Zise Huaiyi is named due to Taleena thinking "purple doubt" would be perfect for the dour and generally unsocial purple dragon. The other dragons try to get along with Zise, but they usually fail to befriend him as he prefers solitude and the pursuit of knowledge. He despises female dragons and Taleena as a result of Taleena fussing so much about him to be a female even after he matured and grew up. The only female he doesn't despise is Fairy Circle whose devotion and kindness partially melted his cold heart.
