Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This tender female isn't as sweet and helpless as she seems if she was to be looked upon at noon-time, sleeping in a bundle, on her little leaf-bed. At night, those, green eyes glow from behind dark eyelids, and a black shape moves stealthily through the woods, just a shadow among the many shifting shadows of the dead of night, except for the green blaze of her alert eyes. Once she spots her target, there's no hope of escape. She has never once been fooled or gotten off the trail of her prey. She will track them as long as she sees fit, then attack. By morning, her stomach is never empty. Forever young, her body will not mature to it's normal large size, but she sees this as an advantage, and it has not stopped or even slowed her mind's maturation.
