Horse Dragons have equine-shaped bodies and hooves instead of claws, which allow them to be fast runners. They specialize in running takeoffs, which are quicker than taking off from a stand-still. Horse dragons are able to stalk their prey from the ground then quickly execute an aerial attack for the kill.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Horsewing is a clan dragon. Believe it or not, he can actually do magic, but his powers are very limited. So far he can only perform about four spells, none of which are very effective. It has been believed that he acquired this skill from his father, a White dragon. Horsewing is one of his clan's most loyal warriors, always caring for his clan and its young first. He is also the best hunter, using his special techniques to capture all sorts of prey. His horns are unusually long as well.

One day Horsewing met Dawnpoppy, the only purple dragon in his clan. He began to start joining his hunting sessions with hers, and the two soon both fell in love. after a month of trying, Dawnpoppy finally laid her first egg: A Horse dragon. That night, the two slept beside their precious egg. But when they woke up, it was gone. The scent of humans lingered in the air. Horsewing and Dawnpoppy have been trying to have another egg, but with no results, even with Dawnpoppy's increased fertility.
