Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Albino dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.
Although he is the mate of the leader and the second oldest dragon of Thoiris, which means he should be one of the most privileged ones, Wexeth prefers not to intrude much. He is kind and somewhat plain, has not many remarkable powers and will happily stay in the background if he's not particularly needed. However, his role in the clan is in no way less important than others'. He is the one who brings unwanted eggs and hatchlings into the cave so that they can be cared for and the clan can expand further.
