Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nikos is the saddest of Delirium's students. It's true that he can keep up with the workload his teacher puts upon him and can even spare time and energy to tutor Shmendrick. It's true that he excels in transfiguration—few dragons can compete with him in his area of expertise. It's true that he has friends among the other students. But while all that is true, he still is sad, because in the quiet moment, when he has time to think, he has to admit to himself that he feels lonely.

Most of the other magis either have life mates or the occasional breeding partner but he never felt the urge. The one thing that sets him apart from his peers, the one thing that makes him feel lonely and sad isn't the fact that he hasn't found a dragoness to court but that he never wanted to. Sometimes he thinks something must be very wrong with him, since he never met or heard of another dragon like him.
