Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nhoftyrrae, who generally goes only by Nhof, is an avid warrior like all dragons of her species, but her skills extend past those of the typical black. Not only with claws but with words and actions is she fierce and cold. She is uninterested in hatchlings though she's mothered a few and really just prefers to be alone and finds it much easier to be aloof and vicious, which is why she rarely makes conscious efforts to be friendly. She does enjoy the company of her brothers and other relatives, with whom she often battles and hunts. However, she has no desire for a mate or to settle down and find permanent grounds; most of the time, she wanders from place to place in search of the best prey.
