Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. People tell stories about a village far, far away. It is said that the leaders of the village, every year, would select a beautiful child from the village. The next day, it would be revealed the child had died from an unknown cause, and the parents were repaid in gold.<br/>Soon, though, the parents of the village grew wary. Were their children really dead Their bodies had never been recovered. So, one day, they followed the Village Elders as they took away a baby. The elders entered a cave, and when the parents looked in, the screamed at what they saw. In front of them was an enormous golden dragon, picking his teeth with a small collarbone. The dragon, Daraku, now that he was discovered, became enraged at the elders.<br/>Coincidentally, the village is now in ruins. Daraku now lives in a different village, still playing his game.
