Nocturne Dragons are a strange breed. Whenever light strikes their bodies, they are frozen in whatever position they were in. This leaves them vulnerable and they rely on camouflage to keep themselves safe. They are often mistaken for statues when in this frozen state, but Nocturne dragons do not actually turn into stone. Rather, they merely idle until the sun goes down. At night, these dragons come to life, proving themselves to be powerful fliers, although little else is known about their true behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

K'Len is the first-born to G'Kar and Laurent'a, half-sibling to Llewelkynne, L'auriano, Ma'Prei, G'Quan, and Na'Toth. He has never met Na'Toth but is good friends with G'Quan and Ma'Prei. He would like to know L'auriano better, but their life cycles simply aren't compatible. They've only ever been able to converse briefly at dawn or dusk. He knew from the start Llewelkynne wanted nothing to do with him, never fully understanding why. Despite the sometimes mixed and confusing interactions he has had with his half-siblings, he had a happy upbringing in the mixed hatchling cave. His dame was devoted and knew she never had to worry about leaving him unsupervised when she went to hunt. The Guardian Dragon Kiliki and the Hellfire Wyvern Rhiani looked after all the hatchlings well. Once he reached adulthood, he flew out to the desert to meet his sire. It was a disappointing encounter that made him decide his adoptive family was closer than most blood ever could be.
