Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Santa Clause was adopted as a newly laid egg during the winter season. Unfortunately, when he first hatched on Christmas morning, he was accidentally placed in the stocking of a half-blind stone dragon. When Ferdy found him in his stocking, he believed that he had found a candy cane with a piece of mistletoe attached. Santa's life was saved just in time by Ferdy's paranoid Gold mate, Pridinth, who took it upon herself to inform him as to just how unhealthy it was for a elderly dragon such as Ferdy to be eating candy of all things. Since then he has acquired a healthy respect for stone dragons.
