Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

When the solstice rolls along, whether it be in cold winter or hot summer, the Sunkeeper will emerge from her cave atop the mountains to greet the new season and say goodbye to the old.

Those that have seen her outside of the solstices swear that she visibly dulls in color; her scales and skin become colored in with brown, the gold stops shimmering as brightly, the orb stops spreading its shine through the dark. It's almost as if she is only alive when the seasons change.

From the first glimmer of sunshine to the last blink of light, she stays outside absorbing the heat on those two days; seemingly a young dragon, although most can't say how long she's really lived.

Most believe that she stays asleep for the other days of the year, only coming out when necessary for food and water, but nobody's seen her.

Some say that she's a exiled god, lying dead in her cave, until the seasonal magics generated by the changing of the seasons are strong enough to bring her back to life.

No one knows.
