Well, the chick grew up into a chicken, but you’re still not sure how the egg got into that cave...

This chicken can be found searching the area around the cave, looking for potatoes. She is attracted to the color and smell of said potatoes, and gathers them up into piles which are then wedged into any nook and cranny she can reach. Unknown to her, though, some of the dragons find the smell of rotting potatoes offensive, and try to toss said potatoes out of the cave when they find them. When she sees that happen, she runs out to the tossed potato, picks it back up, and goes looking for a different cranny to wedge it in. So far she has hidden 122 potatoes all over the cave, and keeps looking for more to hoard. But, for some reason, some of her potatoes are disappearing from their nooks and crannies. Such a mystery...
