Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dustil Aeschere is a force to be reckoned with.  His powerful magic and formidable fighting skill coupled with a quicksilver temperament makes him a dangerous dragon to cross.  Tearing around, destroying things in a storm of rage one minute, deliriously happy gathering wildflowers and hugging other clan members the next, he has no middle ground.  There are only a few certainties about him: he will kill anyone that threatens his family, and he will misunderstand virtually everything.  Few of the clan dare attempt to calm him down when he is angry and none of them are ever sure what will send his mood to which extreme, so most of the clan is wary around him.
