Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sminky is a very bold and brash dragon, and this boldness often leads her into quite a bit of trouble. She has a rather bad habit of bragging about how she's faster than the other dragons, and she gets upset when no one wants to challenge her to race since it's obvious that she will most likely win. Her speed and personality has gotten her into trouble with the nearby shepherds before, so now she preys on mainly deer, though she'll happily dine on other mammalian prey as well.
