Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

User Description

Despite his fiery name and breeding, Adamantriot is a timid soul. Being a male Hellfire, he is wary of other dragons, especially the males -- but tends to turn that wariness inward as fear rather than outward as aggression. He has slowly learned to trust most of the other dragons in his clan, one by one. No other dragon so far has been cruel to him, so he has been raised in an environment of peace. It is hoped that in time, Adamantriot may grow a bit more social in spite of his genes -- but if not, he is accepted just the same.
